As much an art gallery as it is a hotel, art'otel berlin-mitte displays the work of Georg Baselitz, one of Germany's most famous contemporary artists. Stroll past original Baselitz pieces in the public areas, or admire his work in the privacy of your guest room. Our city-centre Berlin hotel also offers free Wi-Fi, private parking and business services.
The historic Ermelerhaus, attached to the hotel, provides meeting facilities and fresh cuisine from Upside Down Bar & Restaurant. If you’d like to explore Germany’s capital, walk to the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building and Alexanderplatz, or board a train at the metro station just across from the hotel. Baselitz’s art and our city-centre location combine to create a one-of-a-kind experience of German culture.

Our contemporary bar features signature drinks and Mediterranean dishes
Upside Down Bar & Restaurant is located in the historical wing of art'otel berlin-mitte, the Ermelerhaus, a 17th-century rococo building boasting ornate ceilings, a glass-roofed courtyard and original artwork by Georg Baselitz.
The bar takes its theme from a series of “Upside Down” works by Baselitz. Inspired by 1970s German Neo-Expressionism, Baselitz deliberately painted his subjects upside-down to force viewers to see the subject matter differently. This theme is reflected in the design of the bar, and highlight colours from individual works are featured in the accents and furnishings. The contemporary cocktail bar overlooks a casual dining area filled with teal and gold chairs.
Please contact the hotel via phone or email to make a reservation for your desired day and time. Upside Down Bar & Restaurant can also accommodate large groups, so if you’re planning an important banquet or an intimate meal, make sure to contact our Berlin hotel about the possibility of reserving the space. art'otel berlin-mitte also has private dining rooms and can make a personalised offer to meet the needs of your gathering.
